Convert Japanese Half-width ascii to normal ascii in php -


i have project require person put in postal code, , country form. form take postal code , match country city , state/province/prefecture. 1 of initial target markets japan use half , full width characters. postal codes regular ascii codes. means japanese full or half width number needs converted regular ascii, @ loss begin understand how this. can point me in right direction? docs, articles? google has been far useless me.
