operating system - What is the difference between a directory and a file with no extension? -

on types of computers (if not all), folders have no extension. wondering, difference between directory , file no extension? don't have same name?

you cannot have directory , file of same name (regardless of extension), cannot have 2 files of same name.

a directory file, too.

the difference directory can contain other files. not matter how called, can have extension (or two). makes directory created such.
