Pubsubhubbub guaranteed delivery -
just started pubsubhubbub , , wondering if there guaranteed delivery mechanism in protocol or depends on how hub implements ?
thanks
i'm founder of http://superfeedr.com , host pubsubhubbub hubs out here.
well, i'm not sure mean "guaranteed" delivery. if publisher, hub , subscriber respect protocol, then, yes, delivery guaranteed...
now, know publisher may not ping accurately. hubs may have downtimes. prevent that, backup polling, means we'll poll each feed make sure haven't missed anything.
similarly, can happen subscriber unable process/handle notifications, or @ least hub may not able reach them (despite retries). these cases, store content of past notifications , allow subscribers retrieve conveniently.
finally, implemenent "counter" approach helps subscriber know haven't missed sending incrementing counter each notification send them. if see counter decreased more 1, know they've missed something.
